Do You Offer Any Special Lessons to Prepare for the Driving Test?

Test Package prices are set by each instructor, so the cost can vary depending on who you book with. No matter who you choose, every Test Package includes:

Pick-up from your chosen location


	A 45-minute pre-test driving lesson
	Use of your instructor’s car for the test
	Drop-off afterwards — no need to stress about transport


Some instructors offer the Test Package as a standalone option, while others may require you to have had at least one lesson with them first.

Note: Test Packages are available in most states, but not currently offered in ACT, SA or TAS. Our test package books the instructor & vehicle only, so you need to book your driving test with your local roads authority.

How Many Driving Lessons Do I Need?

After your first lesson, your driving instructor will be in the best position to assess how many driving lessons you should take, based on factors such as:



•     Previous driving experience, if any

•     Confidence level

•     How quickly you appear to learn and master driving techniques

A New Driver

If you have no driving experience at all, we recommend at least 7 to 10 hours of driving lessons with an accredited driving instructor. For less confident learners, it’s not unusual to book up to 20 hours of instruction. We all learn at different speeds, and it is important to make sure you have a handle on what you’ve been taught in your driving lessons, not just for your driver’s test, but to be a safe and competent driver.

If you are a new driver but have had some driving experience – say, with a family member or friend – we recommend at least 5 to 7 hours of driving instruction to fine-tune your skills and prepare for your driving test.

International Driver’s Licence Holders

Most international driver’s licence holders book about 2 to 3 hours of driving instruction to prepare for the driver’s test here. Notably, there has been a high failure rate in this category, so we recommend starting with at least 3 to 5 hours of driving lessons before attempting the driving test.

Licenced wanting to learn how to drive a manual car

Most learners who already hold an Australian Driver's Licence, but wish to learn on a manual vehicle, will require 3 to 5 hours of driving lessons.

Please note that these ranges are a guide only and will vary from learner to learner.

Can driving lessons count towards my logbook hours?

Definitely - and it’s a great way to speed things up..



If you're learning inNSW, QLD & ACT, every 1 hour of structured driving lessons booked throughEzLicencecounts as 3 logbook hours (up to a bonus of 30 hours for 10 lessons). After that, each lesson still counts, just at a 1:1 rate.

Note that night lessons (between sunset and sunrise) work a little differently — only 1 hour can count towards your night hours, with the other 2 hours going towards your daytime total.

In Tasmania, each 1-hour lesson gives you 2 logbook hours, up to a max of 20 hours from 10 lessons.

Not a bad way to hit your target faster!

How do I book a driving lesson?

Follow these steps to make an online booking:

STEP 1:

Enter your lesson pickup suburb and preferred transmission type (auto or manual) into the ‘Find an instructor’ tool below, then press 'SEARCH':



STEP2: 

Review theprofile detailsof the available instructorsin your area by pressing 'VIEW PROFILE'. You can can review each instructors real-time availability by selecting from the 'available dates' & 'available times' drop down menu's under the 'Book with [instructor name]' section.

STEP3: 

Once you have chosen your instructor, scheduleat least one driving lesson from their 'available dates' & 'available times'. Add additional lessons at this point or later from your personal dashboard. Press'BOOK ONLINE NOW'.

STEP4:

Enter your lesson pickup & contact details and press ‘CONTINUE’. At this point you will have created your EzLicence account and have access to your personal dashboard.

STEP5: 

Select the amount of lesson hours you wish to purchase, enter your payment details & press ‘MAKE PAYMENT’. You can simply pay for the lessons you have booked, or you can buy additional lessons at a discount and schedule them later from your dashboard.

STEP6: 

Add your learning experienceand any special requests for your driving instructor (optional) & press ‘CONFIRM LESSON’. Your lesson is now booked and confirmed. Bookings are made in real-time, your instructor has been notified and will meet you as scheduled. You have access to the instructors contact details if you wish to discuss anything prior to the lesson.

Manage existing lessons (reschedule/cancel) & book more lessons from your personal online dashboard. Login at any time.

We encourage you to speak directly to your driving instructor if you have any questions or would like to discuss your driving lesson needs.



You can schedule, reschedule & cancel driving lessons in real time from your online account. You don't need to call your driving instructor to manage your bookings.

Can I take driving lessons if I have never driven before?

All of our driving instructors welcome the opportunity to provide driving lessons to learner drivers who have never driven before. In fact we believe this is a sensible approach, the initial stages of learning to drive can be the most challenging sowhy not have a professional by your side? Your family and friends can help you gain driving experience after you have learnt the basics and have some confidence behind the wheel.

Which payment methods do you accept?

We accept payment via all major debit and credit cards, includings Visa, Mastercard & American Express.

We also accept payment via Afterpay, Klarna, PayPal,Apple Pay, Google Pay & Microsoft Pay.

Unfortunately we cannot accept cash payments.

To book a driving lesson with an EzLicence driving instructor payment must be made upfront.

Can I book driving lessons if I already have my driver's licence?

This is a common enquiry and we find many people are concerned thatdriving instructors only provide driving lessons to learner drivers. Our driving instructors are regularly providing driving lessons to people who already have their driver's licence. The reasons for engaging a driving instructor for driving lessons are varied and can include the following:


	Licensed drivers who haven't regularly driven for a long time.
	Licensed drivers whoseskills, road rules knowledge or confidencerequire a boost.
	Licensed drivers who have moved to a busier location and require a confidence boost driving in more complex traffic.
	Licensed drivers who want to learn to drive a manual transmission vehicle.
